Hope
This sculpture was inspired by my wife's and daughter's battle with cancer [at the same time]. Thankfully they have been healed and have passed their five year mark.
The figure is looking upward towards God as an expression of thanks for healing. The figure is holding a circular stainless steel ring that represents "health" or completion.
It was an entry in the original Artprise competition here in Grand Rapids. I chose to call the sculpture Hope and only when I was looking for an Artprise site did I discover the Hope Lodge. Rather a serendipitous event.
The sculpture has a plaque that says: "I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock." I found encouragement in this verse as we went through the roller coaster of emotions that come when a loved one is battling cancer!
